Health Information Coder – Part-Time (PT) – Remote
The Salumatics Health Information Coder performs detailed analysis of Inpatient (DAD), Day Surgery (NACRS) and Emergency (NACRS) health records using ICD-10-CA and CCI diagnostic and intervention codes to facilitate resource planning, resource utilization, statistics, clinical research, and related audits.
Rate of Pay: Per Discharge/Registration/Hourly Dependent on the Type of Coding
Work Location: Home
Hours of Work: 20 Hours per Week
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Successful completion of a recognized Health Information Management Program
- Currently Certified with the Canadian Health Information Management Association
- Member in good standing with CHIMA
- Minimum of three (3) years recent DAD and/or NACRS job experience
- Demonstrated advanced skill in Folio
- Advanced knowledge of anatomy, physiology, pathology and medical terminology
- Proficient understanding of current CIHI DAD and NACRS Coding Standards
- Proficient understanding of CIHI indices and comparative reports
- Proficient understanding of HBAM (ON), HSFR (ON), QBP(ON),CMG, CACS, and RIW
- Demonstrated well developed communication skills, both written and oral
- Demonstrated accuracy and attention to detail
- Demonstrated initiative and ability to work independently and as an effective team member
- Demonstrated problem solving and decision making skills
- Demonstrated organization and time management skills
- Demonstrated flexibility and ability to manage change
- Demonstrated excellent attendance record
